Thank you Johnson Ferry Family!!

During the week of MOVE ATL: August 21-27 over 1,000 of you served our city. From local schools, to apartment complexes, Clarkston, assisted livings, and everywhere in between, you guys served our city well.

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer Him saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you? And the King will answer them, "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." - Matthew 25:35-40

Let us continue to pray for the places and people we served this past week. Think about how you and your connect group can continue to pray and serve our community.

Lighthouse Family Retreat
Lighthouse Family Retreats will be hosting the Sunrise Retreat for families who have lost a child to cancer. The retreat creates space for families to heal and connect with one another. Lighthouse is in need of 4 volunteer families to serve during this week (September 24th-30th). If this is something you and your family can volunteer with apply here.

Young Lives
Young Lives is a part of Young Life that disciples teen mothers. Check out the sign up to provide meals and/or childcare during the semester. 

Atlanta Mission
Atlanta Mission works with those experiencing homelessness in Atlanta. There are two big ways that you can get involved with Atlanta Mission. The first is to donate specifically to provide immediate relief from the extreme heat we've all been experiencing in our city. Another way that you can care for the homeless is to pray for Atlanta Mission and the clients that they serve. The Lord hears our prayers, so let us offer them to Him with a joyful and sincere heart.

Love's Latitude 
There are several opportunities to serve in Clarkston with our partners, Love's Latitude. Email Jim & Jeanne Slaughenhoup at Love's Latitude to serve in Clarkston. Check out the opportunities to serve refugees:

  ESL Classes in Clarkston
ESL classes will be held at the Johnson Ferry ministry apartment in Clarkston. Here are the dates and times that classes meet:
- Monday Mornings: 10am-noon (Syrian)
- Thursday Evenings: 6:30pm-8pm (Syrian)
- Saturday Mornings: 8am-10am (Afghan)
- Sunday Mornings: 8am-10am (Afghan)
- Wednesday Evenings: 6:30pm-8pm (Afghan)

  Bicycles
If you have any new or gently used bicycles that are in good working order, they could be used in Clarkston. All sizes are needed. Please email Susi Saddik if you have any bicycles you would like to donate. 

  Christmas Ornaments
We are beginning Holiday preparations for refugee families and that includes Christmas trees. The trees are not needed, but we are looking for new or gently used unbreakable ornaments. If you have any ornaments, consider donating them to Love's Latitude for our refugee friends in Clarkston.

Even though the year is half way over, there is still time to go on a mission trip this year. It's always amazing to see how God takes our "yes" and turns it into something life changing. Check out the mission trips below and be praying about going on one. We will be adding trips throughout the year, check out the JF website to learn more and register for a trip!

Uganda: October 16-28 | The team will be working with Teaching the Vine ministries by serving in refugee camps throughout Uganda.

North Africa: October 17-25 | The team will be encouraging JF Sent Ones serving alongside them as they share the Gospel with locals.

Sevierville, TN: October 20-22 | The team will be assisting with different maintenance projects at Wears Valley Ranch. This is a great first mission trip, including families.

Albania: October 26- November 5 | The team will be working with Cru Albania and is assisting with multiple campus outreach events.

Cuba: November 5-13 | The team will be teaching a marriage seminar with a local church.

Greece: December 22-30 | The team will be partnering with AMG Greece to help plan and host an overnight children's camp.

Guatemala: December 27- January 4 | The team will be serving with GMP to minister through orchestra performances and serve orphanages helping provide music education. They will be using music as a platform to build relationships to share the Gospel in places strategic to GMP's ministry.
