The football season has officially kicked off! There is always so much excitement around game day! People organize their day, so they can be home to watch the game. Others love to go to the game. We buy t shirts, hats and shakers in the colors of our teams. There are slogans, chants, and fight songs we memorize. My favorite is the slogan, "All In". It is such a great motto for teams, but also for Christians.
Jesus wants us to go "All In" with our relationship with him. He wants your whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Nothing less will do. For your relationship with God to be life changing and meaningful, you must give it all to Him. Mark 12:30 states, "You shall love the Lord you God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your mind, and with all your strength." Think about that. Have you ever done that? It takes a life time to fulfill. It is the biggest commitment you will ever make, but one you don't have to do on your own. That's what church is all about. Pastor Clay says it all the time. Church isn't the building or a service that you attend on Sunday. It's the people there that come together like family to study the truth found in the Bible. We do life together, the good, bad, difficult and fun. That's what 419 Groups are all about, doing life together.
We are still offering 419 Groups this Fall. They will officially start in October. These are small groups of men, women, or couples who discuss a book of the Bible, pray for each other and encourage one another in their walk with Jesus. You can hear more about these at our Tailgate Party, rescheduled for Sunday October 8, 5-7pm. The Tailgate Party will be a fun family event for all ages! We will have games, prizes and tailgate food. Show your team spirit by wearing your favorite football team colors. Prizes will be given for over the top team attire! You will meet and hang out with other families.
Let's be "All In" this year, so that we can find truth, belong and purpose in Jesus together.
